Industrial organizations operate in environments where decisions depend on understanding complex relationships across data, processes, and operational conditions. As analytical workflows grow more sophisticated, teams need tools that make insights clearer, analytics more accessible, and advanced techniques easier to apply within everyday decision workflows.
In our recent webinar, “What’s New in Spotfire® 14.8,” we presented the latest capabilities coming to the Spotfire platform.
Spotfire 14.8 introduces native statistical analytics inside Spotfire workflows, new ways to add statistical context directly to visualizations, and improvements that help teams automate and scale analytical processes
This post highlights a few key capabilities presented during the session, with many more covered in the full presentation.
Running advanced statistical algorithms directly inside Spotfire
One of the major capabilities introduced in Spotfire 14.8 is native Statistica® analytics directly within Spotfire workflows.
With this capability, engineers and domain experts can run advanced statistical and machine learning techniques without leaving Spotfire. Algorithms for regression, classification, clustering, industrial analytics, and time-series analysis execute directly within an analysis.
This means users can:
- Apply advanced statistical models to their data directly inside Spotfire.
- Validate and interpret results immediately through interactive visualizations.
- Combine visual exploration and statistical modeling in a single workflow.
Previously, these analyses typically required exporting data to external statistical tools. Now they can be performed directly within the same interactive environment used for exploration and investigation.
Add statistical context directly to visualizations
Spotfire 14.8 introduces statistics layers, a new way to display calculated statistics directly within visualizations.
Compute measures such as counts, medians, standard deviations, yield %, or any custom KPIs and display them as overlays on charts. These statistics update dynamically with filtering, marking, and other interactive analysis, making it easier to:
- See key metrics in the context of the data.
- Compare distributions and performance across subsets.
- Communicate analytical findings clearly without leaving the visualization.
Analysts can now embed statistical context directly inside the visual analysis itself, making insights faster to interpret and easier to share.
Automate and scale analytics workflows
Spotfire 14.8 also introduces improvements that make it easier to operationalize analytics across teams and production environments.
Enhancements to Automation Services and scheduling give organizations more flexibility to run analytical workflows automatically, ensuring that reports, models, and analyses are updated and delivered at the right time.
Watch the webinar on demand
This blog only scratches the surface of what’s new in Spotfire 14.8. If you missed the session or want to revisit key parts of the presentation, you can watch the full webinar on demand to see these new capabilities in action.
The Spotfire 14.8 Innovation Release, available later this month, continues our focus on helping organizations bring together interactive visual exploration, advanced analytics, and industry-specific workflows in a single environment.
As analytical challenges grow more complex, the ability to combine these capabilities within a unified platform will become increasingly important.Spotfire helps teams do exactly that, discover insights faster, surface risks earlier, and drive performance forward.
